Character & Mental Toughness- Build Me A Bomber

Build me a Bomber

Build me a Bomber that will be strong enough to know when he is weak
and brave enough to face the things he fears in himself and others…

…who is proud and undaunted in honest defeat
but humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a Bomber whose heart is clear and whose goals are high

…who will learn to master himself before he tries to master others

…who has learned to laugh but has not forgotten how to weep

…a Bomber who will look to the future yet never forget the past

…who has enough vision and sense of humor to see all the fun that lies within the sharing of all that work.

Build me a Bomber with awareness to learn that to know himself is the
foundation stone of all knowledge

…who has NOT followed the paths of ease and comfort,
but has solidly faced the trails of challenge

…who has learned to stand up to the teeth of the storm
and has learned to accept passion for those who fail

…who has knelt to give sympathy to those who cannot help themselves.

Build me a Bomber who is humble enough today to know that he can still get better tomorrow

Build me a Bomber who so stands before his fellow men in such a way that his parents and coaches and teachers dare to whisper, “I have not lived in vain.”

Build me a Bomber like that and our world will be a better place.

(Based on a Poem by General Douglas McArthur that was adpated by Allen Schup of the Longhorn Council)

I just want you to know what is possible.
