The Character Way Team Seminar


William James Moore, M.Ed., is an educator, author, speaker, and coach. In his book On Character and Mental Toughness, Coach Moore shares how his experiences in classrooms, athletic arenas, and in his own personal life, coupled with his life long study of History, helped him to discover “The Character Way.” This thoughtful living and working practice is based on the progressive mastery of 11 key character traits that lead to success on the micro and macro level. As a consultant, Coach Moore counsels leaders to broaden their intense focus on the technical and tactical aspects of their particular field and identify how the strength and weakness of each team member’s character will ultimately determine project outcomes. Bill teaches leaders how to improve organizational culture by changing character, and change character by consciously making each daily decision character based. In his engaging and pragmatic “Character Way” seminars, he walks teams through The 11 Key Traits of Success and teaches participants how to consistently maintain their character under pressure by developing mental toughness. SYNOPSIS: Certified, Highly Qualified Teacher, B.A. History, M.Ed.,19 years of classroom teaching experience. Successful coaching of both genders and in three different sports. 22 years and 45 total seasons of coaching experience. Coaching experience at all 3 NCAA divisions as well as at the prep-school, high school and youth sports levels. Group Speaker, and Key Note speaker in a variety of settings to diverse audiences (College D2 & D3 Teams, Libraries, Functions, Graduations, Professional Development). NARRATIVE: Previous to his most current stint as an assistant football coach at Springfield College, Coach Moore served for a dozen years as the head football coach of the Bombers of Westfield High School.  In that time the team rose from the bottom of the state and regional ranking to an annual playoff contender earning two Western Mass Division 1AA titles and post-season appearances in 2007, 2008, and 2013. In his final season Moore led the team to a 9-2 campaign while his option based offense averaged 38 points per game. In that culminating season his team earned both district and state level Sportsmanship Awards. Coach Moore was a four year starter at center and guard at the University of New Hampshire, and was a member of the 1991 Yankee Conference Championship team.  He has been an assistant coach at Agawam High School, Maine Central Institute, and Princeton University. In 2001, he served as offensive coordinator at Western New England University, leading his unit to single game rushing, total offense, and scoring records while he also coached one All-American.  Coach Moore previously served as both a graduate assistant coach and assistant coach at Springfield College.  As offensive line coach from 1998-2000 he helped Springfield to NCAA playoff appearances in 1998 and 2000 and coached All-American John Cena. As an assistant lacrosse coach, he helped build the Westfield HS lacrosse program into a regional power. Coach Moore is a longtime History teacher who has been named to Who’s Who of American Teachers on several occasions.  He was listed as a member of the Springfield College Faculty as an Associate Practioner from 2003-2009. He earned his undergraduate degree in History at UNH, and his Master’s degree in Education at Springfield College He has four children and resides in Western Massachusetts.
