MLK had multiple affairs, he smoked, and he was accused of plagiarizing his college thesis. Does this diminish his accomplishments? Should we dwell on his mistakes or should we recognize his achievements. People are human. We are not infallible. We make mistakes. You judge a man by his intent. Is he trying to do good just for himself or for himself AND others? Is he complacent and duplicitous or is he trying to improve himself and the world around him? There comes a point when we discover there is no Santa Clause. There comes another when we realize that nobody is perfect. In each we become at least a tad bitter over a loss of our innocence. If we are smart we learn to not cast stones, for we too are imperfect. No matter the stature of a man, he is still a man. We then must choose our perspective and doing so forces us to figure out who we are and how we will see the world. We tremble at the permanence of this not realizing that our subsequent experience will add new perspectives, new viewing angles from which we can better discern the truth.
